STRINGER, James Robert "Jimmie" -

Passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 13, 2008 in his 70th year.  Jimmie is survived by his wife, Barb of 52 years.  Loving and proud father of Heather and Paul Blaney and Richard and Chantel Stringer.  Amazing and very fun "Poppa Jim" to Jeff and Erin Blaney and Liam Stringer. Jimmie is survived by his twin brother John, Evelyn (Roger), Edward, Annie (Wayne), Brenda (Steve) and numerous nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by brothers and sisters Charlie, Barbara, Freddie, Herbie and Joanie.  Very special Tio to Jack, Jacqualine (Anselmo), Bobbie, Brian and Shawna.  Jimmie will be greatly missed by all his extended family and friends.  Your kind heart and amazing sense of humor will be with us forever Dad.  We all love you! 

At Jimmie’s request there will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the MORRIS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4 Division Street, Bowmanville.  Visitation one hour prior to service from 12 noon – 1 p.m.


 
CAMPBELL, Fred – 

(lifelong resident of Whitby, Ontario) passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, May 8, 2008, in his 82nd year.  Survived by his loving wife Elizabeth Campbell.  Loving father of daughters Carolyn (Jim), Jane (Tony), and sons Robert (Barbara-Jane), Christopher (Laura), and Timothy (Lorna).  Missed by nine grandchildren.  Brother of Paul, Archie, Phyllis, and the late Ron, Miriam, and Ruth. 

A funeral service will be held in the chapel of the NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S. (just north of 401 at the lights) on Wednesday, May 14, at 1:00 p.m., with visiting for one hour prior to the service.  Interment Bond Head Cemetery, Newcastle.  Donations in Fred’s memory to the Alzheimer Society or Newcastle United Church would be appreciated by his family.  (Expressions of sympathy may be made on-line through www.newcastlefuneralhome.com.)



DICKEY, B. Bernard -

With profound sadness the family announces the passing of their beloved father Bernard, from Oshawa on May 08, 2008.  He was born on July 31, 1924 in the village of Lansing Ontario, the eldest child of Zelia Robitaille and Roy Dickey.  Dear brother (Buddy) to Helen wife of William Weatherup (deceased), Teresa wife of Bob Herron (deceased), Matthew husband of Margaret Bonnin, Anna wife of Russel Vaillancourt (deceased), Edith wife of Ernest Merkley (deceased), Thomas husband of Agnes Bonnin, Margaret (deceased) wife of John Moreau, Agnes wife of Patrick Dunn (deceased).

Bernard spent the early part of his life in Midland until moving to Oshawa in 1941, where he met and married on Sept 6, 1947, the love of his life, Joan Alice Nash who predeceased him in 2007.  Beloved father to daughter Sharon and husband Fred Cully,son James and his wife Paty and daughter Susan.  Grandfather to Evelio, Mauricio, Heidi, Becki, Jamie and Joshua. 

He worked at General Motors for over 30 years as a Systems Analyst.  He joined the Canadian Army in 1943 and served overseas,being discharged in 1946.  Over the past 54 years he helped many generations of people to water ski at Clover Leaf Cottages on Oxtongue Lake.  Scout Leader for many years of the 9th Oshawa Scout Troop of St. Gregory's Church.  Avid gardener, reader and swimmer, having achieved a 2,000 km certificate.

Visitation for family and friends on Tuesday May 13,2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at 
McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 152 King St E, Oshawa (905-433-5558).  Memorial mass at THE CHURCH OF ST. GREGORY THE GREAT, 194 Simcoe Street N., Oshawa at 10:30 on Wednesday May 14,2008. Reception to follow.  Final resting place Resurrection Cemetery, 355 Taunton Road East Whitby.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Charity of choice through McIntosh-Anderson Funeral Home.

FOOTE, William –

Suddenly at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on May 8th, 2008 in his 91st. year.  Bill was survived by his loving wife Agnes (Nan) of 62 years.  Loving father of Nancy and her husband Tim Allin and John Foote.  Proud and dedicated grandfather of Natalie Allin, Brady Allin and partner Meghan Alton.  Survived by siblings Verena Pretty and Lois MacKinnon.  Bill will be sadly missed by all his nieces and nephews and family.

MCGILL, Grace Mary Ceceila – 

Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Thursday, May 8, 2008 in her 81st year.  Grace has gone to be with her beloved husband the late Merril McGill.  Loved mother of Carolin Hughes, Marilyn McGill, Terry McGill and Jim McGill.  Loving grandmother of Kim, Rhonda, Amanda, Rebecca, Michael, Brent, Holly and 9 great-grandchildren.  Dear sister of Jackie, Joan, Jane, Geraldine, Bill, Ross and the late Norma and Gerald.

Retiree 37 years Ontario Hydro, WWII Veteran – peacefully on Wednesday May 7, 2008 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa surrounded by his loving family in his 88th year. 

Philip, beloved husband of the late Violet Langfeld (nee Wilson).  Loving father of Romi and her husband Bill Abbott, Heather Langfeld, Jan and her husband Bill Ashton and Cheryl and her husband Louis Bekiaris.  Loved Granddad of David (Darlene) Abbott, John Abbott, Julie Walker (Jerry Zapantis), Amurlee Stobbs (Matthew Stobbs), Evelyn Ashton (Tim Breen), Myles Ashton and Michael and Jessica Bekiaris.  Great-Granddad of Kyrie, Melissa and Brittany Abbott and George Zapantis.  Dear brother of Mildred Fortune and the late Leslie Langfeld.  Dear brother in law of George and Joyce Wilson and Evie and Tom Rae of England. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in Canada and England.

TAYLOR, John G. “Jack” -

(Retired employee of Ontario Hydro)  Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday May 7th, 2008, at Lakeridge Health – Oshawa in his 78th year.  Jack Taylor, beloved husband of Gwen,  loving father of Debbie and her husband Dave Taylor, Joan and her husband Alan Winterbottom, and Lynda and her husband John Jaworski.  Cherished Grandpa of Mike, Dean (Nancy), James, Matthew, Jenna and Ella, and Great Grandpa to Emily.

CLINGMAN, Melvin Earl -

1930-2008 -  (Retired GM Employee 31 years)  It is with great sadness that the family of Mel announces his passing on Tuesday May 6, 2008.  Mel was the loving husband and soul mate of Maie (Thompson) for 57 wonderful years.  He was a loving father and best friend of Garth (Debbie) of Omemme, Wendy (Jack) of Oshawa, and Melanie (Rob) of Whitby.  Loving and devoted Grandfather of Amy of Kitchener and Holly (Shawn) of Bowmanville.  He will be sadly missed but will live forever in our hearts.  Mel was blessed with his treasured Great-grandchildren Jayden and Eric.  Predeceased by Trevor Earl.  “Together … Forever”. 
Mel’s extended family included his children’s and grandchildren’s friends. He was a father, uncle and grandfather to many.  His zest for music, life, love and laughter will never be forgotten.  Mel is survived by his sister Ethel (Ken) of Alberta and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents Earl and Katie, his brother Leighton and his sisters June and Marion.

FERRON, Gabrielle (Jean) -

Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family and friends after a courageous battle on Tuesday, May 6th, 2008.  Loving wife and best friend of Joe for 41 years.  Beloved mother of Joseph and his wife Tara.  Cherished Grandma of Nicholas, Felicity and Hannah.  Jean touched the hearts of all who knew her, especially Gerry and Bridie Lawlor, Peter and Theresa Diver, Dennis and Marie Savage, Lynette, Karen, Michael, Jennifer, Timothy, Emma and Daniel, Miranda, Serena, Marshall and the extended Gormley family.

PETER, Zoltan Steve -

 (WWII Veteran, Avid Outdoorsman)  Passed away after a lengthy illness at Extendicare Oshawa, on May 7, 2008.  Survived by his wife Selma Peter, brother Michael Peter (Bloomfield, ON), children Michele Broughton (Barrie, ON), Gerald Peter (Caesarea), Margaret Lacey (Oakville), grandchildren Deborah, Jeremy, Deanna, Nikki, Erica, Nadine, Jason, Chris, Brandon, Ryan, Megan, and many great grandchildren. Predeceased by his daughter Trudy Duncan (Oshawa).  Zoltan worked at PPG (formerly Duplate Canada) in Oshawa for many years and was an avid sportsman and hobbyist who loved the outdoors. Zoltan will be sadly missed by his family and friends. 

Visitation will be held at MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby, 905-443-3376, on Saturday, May 10, 2008 from 12-1 p.m. with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Mount Lawn Chapel.  Burial Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Donations to the Veteran's Poppy Fund would be appreciated.

Age 46 years.  Suddenly as the result of an accident on Tuesday May 6, 2008.  Beloved husband of Cindy (Hanthorne) Skinner.  Loving son of Shirley and Lloyd Skinner.  Dear brother of Ted & Joanne; Anne Booker & Malcolm Rombach; Lynn & Walter Michalejko; Lee Skinner; Marg & Keith Ball. Loving remembered by aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

SOMERS, John "Jack" Edward -

Age 78 years.  At Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Wednesday May 7th, 2008. 

Beloved husband of 54 years to June.  Dear father of Marylou Somers, Heather & Bill Cowan and Jack & Lea Somers.  Loving grandfather of Mnna, Venessa, Shane, Kristina, Kayla, Aaron, Kailee and Brandon.  Cherished great-grandfather of Kenny, Sabrina, Ethan & Gabriel.  Survived by his siblings Bill, Marie and Lois.  Predeceased by his parents Mansell & Eveline Somers and siblings Robert, Frank, Jean, Ellwood, Thomas, Irma, Elizabeth and Rheta.

A Memorial Service will be held at THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville on Monday May 12th, 2008 at 11 am.  Visitation from 10 – 11 am.  Memorial Donations may be made to The Charity of your Choice.



WHITE, Earl Elmer -

Passed at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on May 6, 2008, at the age of 90 years old.  Earl was the son of the late Nelson and Ella (McAuley) White.  Dear father of Brenda and her husband, the late Camillo Luciani, Jane and her husband Gerald Smith, Ellen and her husband Robert Bailey; survived by several grandchildren; great grandchildren; sisters Gert Douglas (Ontario), Doris LeBlanc, (Saint John N.B.) Pam and her husband Ralph Lynch (Fredericton N.B.), Donna White (Saint John N.B.).  Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Eudella (Johnson) White, son Earl, brothers Harold, Clifford and Frank; and sisters Alvina and Leoda.

EDMONDS, Joyce Madeline -

Passed away at Lakeridge Health, Port Perry on Monday May 5th, 2008 in her 59th year. Dearly loved wife of George Edmonds of Norwood formerly of Toronto and her brother Charlie of Toronto.  Much loved mother of Eddie and his wife Nancy of Sarnia, and Lori and her husband Greg Duff of Brooklin.  Grandmother of Crystal, Cole and Adam.  Survived by her sisters Eileen of Irish Town and Florence and Jean of Corner Brook, and her brother Charlie of Toronto. 

Resting at MEMORIAL CHAPEL BROOKLIN, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Brooklin/Whitby from 5 - 9 p.m. Wednesday.  Funeral service in the chapel Thursday morning May 8th, at 11:00 a.m.

At Hillsdale Estates, on Monday May 5, 2008 after a courageous battle with diabetes.  Emily in her 88th year.  Beloved wife of the late Donald Purdy. Dear mother of Audrey Van Hout & her husband Neil of Bowmanville, Donna Kentner of Oshawa, Sharen Merrill of Oshawa, Karen Babineau of Oshawa and Kenneth & his wife Brigit of Oshawa.  Survived by 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.  Predeceased by her grandson Christopher Purdy and by her two brothers Leonard & William.  Special thanks to the staff at Hillsdale Estates, 4th floor Primrose Path for all of their love and support.

Peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, at age 89.  Our family Angel, Mary (nee Leschishin) of Port Perry, beloved wife of the late Freddy Zaparanuik.  Loving mother of Ray, Dennis, Darlene, Marlene, Richard, Ron, and their spouses.  Loved by Ed and Olga.  Mary will be sadly missed by her 11 grandchildren, her 19 great grandchildren, and all her special friends.  Dearest sister of Roger.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia Anderson Chatterton in her 70th year.  Beloved wife of Kenneth for 50 years; loving Mother to Jamie Chatterton and his wife Kathy, Tracy Parker and her husband Wayne.  She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Jesse and Jenny Chatterton; Brittany and Alisha Parker; and her sister and best friend Betty Williams and her husband Ron.  She will be very fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and friends.

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, May 4, 2008.  Devoted wife of Bill for 55 years.  Loving mother of Michael, Nancy and Jamie.  Grandmother of David, Michael, Stephanie and the late Christina.  Predeceased by her brother Jack.  June was a member of St. George’s ACW and the Painting Group.

(Philosopher, Chemist, Artist)  Peacefully, on Sunday, May 4, 2008, at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, at age 84.  Endel Rist of Port Perry, beloved husband of Kunda (nee Isand).  Loved father of Martin Rist and his wife Linda of Atlanta and Tina and her husband Dave Grant of Port Perry.  Loving Vanaisa of Dylan, Tobin, Melanie and Trevor.  Endel was the only child of the late Mart and Alide Rist.
